Determine the type of boundary line and shading for the graph of the inequality 4x + y > -6. Dashed line with shading on the side that includes the origin. Solid line with shading on the side that does not include the origin. Dashed line with shading on the side that does not include the origin. Solid line with shading on the side that includes the origin. @Mertsj

OpenStudy (mertsj):

y>-4x-6

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Where does this line cross the y axis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6, right?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

-6

OpenStudy (mertsj):

What is its slope?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

yes

OpenStudy (mertsj):

So could you make a sketch of the line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll attempt to.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Ok. I'll make one also and we can see if we agree.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I forgot where to put -4 :/

OpenStudy (mertsj):

It is the slope. Mark -6 on the y axis and from that point you need to rise -4 (which is down 4) and go right 1 and mark that point. Then draw the line and make it dotted.
