Solution: Technical English is not the part of technology because technical English is the language of technical knowledge such as information technologies, civil engineering, planning and building, and industrial objects etc. It is a universal concept and includes English for professionals like electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, IT specialists etc. Technical texts are difficult to understand by non-professionals. While technology is the making, usage, modification, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems, and methods of organization, in order to perform a specific function.
Technical English abounds with professional terminology that is applied by relatively limited number of professionals in their specialized fields and activities and technology refers to construction, medical and information technologies are some types of technology.
It is clear that Technical English is the language of specific professions whereas technology is practical application of tools and machinery. If we look around us, we will come to know that a great number of people exist around us who are technically expert but are not expert in technical English. Therefore, we can safely say that in order for a person to use technology, he does not need to be an expert at technical English and the above arguments prove that ‘Technical English is not the part of technology.’
