What property does addition have that string concatenation doesn't?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

string concatenation requires that both operands are string. But in addition, any one of the operands have to be string....if the other is a integer or any other data type, it is automatically type-casted into string type. however, in string concatenation, if any of them are not string, a type mismatch error is thrown.
