I feel so stupid for asking this but how do i do use other peoples writing in my writing?? do i paraphrase and im just confused :S

when i quote can i just copy and paste?? after i parapgrase i still need to (Jones) something like this right?

if you paraphrase you dont need to say who it is from, if you quote you need to put these "jdaidsa" and say who its from
