what is the difference between connecting link and missing link ?(evolution)

Those connecting links which have been extinct is called missing link. For examples archaeopteryx is connecting link between reptiles and birds. Those animals which share the characteristicts of diffent animals is called connecting link. For example duck billed platypus. Connecting links may survive or extinct where as missing links have been extinct.
