using LaTex for where people see the post first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

before a person looks at the message they are able to see the type of equation or problem without clicking the question the open question tab does not show latex coded items just a suggestion

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this appearance is much better because i can clealr observe without clicking the question the type of question asked

Parth (parthkohli):

Well, I just wanna tell you that the stuff you see as a preview has a character limit. You can't define a character limit for LaTeX, so if the question is a page long... will the preview be a page long as well? :-| @Admins Tell me in the case you can define a character limit. If so, I have a followup suggestion.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you mean something like this http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/5188f6afe4b0d254cf0dec74 but i think the same way they can use Latex on the part that appears as you watch/open the question they can also do the same for unopened questions!!!

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

I'm confused what you guys are saying. The Latex doesn't work on those question previews because it's not enabled for them. @ParthKohli are you saying that questions have a character limit ? what are you saying ? if thats it, well, yes they do, a 600-character one. But whats that got to do which the Latex ?

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

BTW @Jonask, do you like the Chrome extension I made ? :3 It adds tons of new features to OpenStudy :3 http://www.dumbsearch.com/tuosa

Parth (parthkohli):

The preview of a question shows a limited number of characters. That is because they have defined a character limit. They can't define that limit for LaTeX though.

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

oooh true. very smart. your right. what if the latex was vvvveeeryy bigg or something ? they couldn't detect the individual characters of the result (if it was very big, it would take too much space and overflow), and counting the original (un-rendered latex) would render too many characters...

Parth (parthkohli):

Exactly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ParthKohli is correct i think i like the chrome extension how did you do that and has openstudy seen it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can i download i or something

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nevermind i already did its so proper

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

cool! :) do you like it ? :) if you need any more help, just ask me. and yes, Preetha the CEO saw my app, she's discussing with me saying that maybe she could release it officially as a OpenStudy product. That would be awesome.
