Approximate the real number solutions to the polynomial function f(x) = x3 – 4x2 – 4x + 16 . x = –4, x = –2, x = 2 x = –2, x = 2, x = 4 x = –4, x = –2, x = 4 x = –4, x = 2, x = 4
hi young lady, may I help you?
yes please, thank you
big offer, want to study or answer? have any idea?
i have no idea how to solve this. I would like to know both how to do it and also get the answer
do you know horner's rule?
no
wait, I will scan the stuff, take a look, think and let me know where you stuck, ok?
ok thank you so much!!
here,
thx
okay so here's my work i used synthetic division.... 2 | 1....4....-4....-16 ...........2....12....16 ______________ .....1....6.....8...| 0 then I factored out the x-2 and got this.... (x-2)(x^2+6x+8) did some more factorization... (x-2)(x^2+6x+8) (x-2)(x+2)(x+4) and i got x=-4, -2, 2 as my answer How'd I do? Am I correct?
next
thx so did i get it?
yep its seems we got the same answer! :D
it*
nope, young lady, you miss the negative sign at the first 4( the coefficient of x^2) so, you mess up there, sorry for saying that.
oh okay
re check, very easy to make mistake.
thx
I would like to know whether you understand or not? if you want to guess, do it. but I don't want you go on that way. You should know why and how to get the answer.
ok im good! thanks for writing it out like that its really helpful to see the actual process!
glad to hear!! glad to be helpful to you!!
