Factor: 2x^2 - 29x + 12 / x + 4

OpenStudy (freethinker):

are you sure it is 2x^3

OpenStudy (freethinker):

-29 + 12 can be combined

OpenStudy (freethinker):

you're missing a middle term is that suppose to be 29x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its 2x^2 and yes, its -29x

OpenStudy (freethinker):

LOL! please copy and post the right question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is the right question..

OpenStudy (freethinker):

you can try the AC-method to factor your numerator, and if that doesn't help, use the quadratic formula.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok.

OpenStudy (freethinker):

do you know how to use the AC-method?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No

OpenStudy (freethinker):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks (:

OpenStudy (freethinker):

ya. enjoy! if you don't get it, let me know!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, I multiplies 2 and 12 and got 24, but none of the factors of 24 added together = -29.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@freethinker

OpenStudy (nubeer):

try applying quadratic formula.. in the numerator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is the equation equal to zero? If it's not, then you can't use the quadratic formula yet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x is equal to 14.0736 and 0.42632
