you can add the coefficients of like terms. = 5x^2 + 9

8x^2 minus 3x^2 is where you get 5x^2. Then you add 7 and 2 and get 9. So its 5x^2+9

The minus sign in the middle cancels out the minus 2, so you would add them instead of subtracting
