simplify 14+2*8-5^2+3^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that "times" after the first 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer is 14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you explain to me how you got the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you do the ones with the weird "^" sign first then multiplication or division and then addition or subtraction. So you would have to figure out 5^2 and 3^2 first. Then 2*8 and the you simplify what you have.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not sure if that makes sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got -18
