a wheelchair ramp has a rise from the ground of 1 foot. the ramp has a length of 14 feet. to the nearest degree find the angle the ramp makes with the sidewalk

ok You would use SOH CAH TOA. Since you have 2 measurements from the angle x, (that would be opposite and adjacent from the angle x) you would use TOA which is tangent. 1/14(inverse tan)= 4 degrees 2. You have the degree and one side length. Again use SOH CAH TOA to determine if you use sine, cosine or tangent. From the angle you would go opposite, then adjacent to the opposite side which is TOA (Tangent= Opposite over Adjacent) So Tan27 = side x/32 feet. From here I would cross multiply Tan27 and 32 feet. You should get 16. Hope I don't get this wrong, just did this stuff last year lol. Just in case you don't understand my atrocious explaination I have included a link to a youtube video explaining this stuff. Hope this helps. =] Source(s): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFh_JC7OSrg this should help if you know SOHCAHTOA
