help finding the area of a triangle (image attached)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (espex):

They give you the equation, \[\frac{1}{2}~b\times~h~=~A\]you are also given your base and height measurements. Plug them into the equation and solve for the polynomial equation.

@thomaster can you help with this one?

thomaster (thomaster):

\[\frac{ 1 }{2 }(7x-3)\times(2x+2)~=~Area\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks! i have one more question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find the area of the parallelogram, A = bh. Leave the answer in simplest polynomial form.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait @thomaster is 12(7x−3)×(2x+2) the answer to the first one or do i have to simplify it?

thomaster (thomaster):

you can simplify it yes first multiply 1/2 with the first parenthesis set \[\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }(7x-3)~=~3.5x-1.5\]So \((3.5x-1.5)(2x+2)\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright and what about the second one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@thomaster

thomaster (thomaster):

Same thing. paralellogram = base * height You know both \((2n+3)(n+8)\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that the simplest form?

thomaster (thomaster):

they ask the polynomial form so you have to foil it

thomaster (thomaster):

Same for the first one
