given that the slope of a line is -1/5 what is the slope of the line that is perpendicular to it? i am thinking about using the slope formula am i correct?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

start with -1/5 flip the fraction to get -5/1 which is really just -5 then flip the sign to get 5 --------------- So if the slope of one line is -1/5 the slope of any perpendicular line to the first one is 5
