Times New Roman, size 12, double spaced, align left, black ink.

Generally it needs to be straightforward and readable; no frills. Teachers usually accept Arial, Cambria, or Times New Roman unless stated otherwise. When in doubt, just use Times New Roman. It's the most widely accepted.
