A mirror is framed in the shape of an equilateral triangle. The length of one side of the frame is 54 in. Will the mirror fit on a wall above a mantle that is 50 in. below the ceiling?

|dw:1368515751183:dw| if h> 50, then mirror cant fit in, otherwise it'll fit in

You know the length of one side is 54. The length of the unknown side is half the length of one of the sides of the triangle so it is 27. Using your diagram, you'll have the length of two sides known and a right angle triangle. From there it's just an application of pytahgoras theorem and determining whether h is greater than or less than 50.
