can someone tell what's the difference between meiosis and mitosis in cell division, plus what is the meaning of diploid(daughter cells)?
diploid numers is means a full number of chromosomes ,
numbers*
as in 2 chromosomes in one diploid?
yeah, and you cam know more about it here http://faculty.clintoncc.suny.edu/faculty/michael.gregory/files/bio%20101/bio%20101%20laboratory/mitosis/mitosis.htm
thx man. :D
women* your welcome :*
Mitosis(1 division); produces 2 exact copies of the daughter cells-diploid(2n) genome number the same as the parental cells. Meiosis(2 divisions); produces different copies of the daughter cells(gametes-sperm & eggs)- 4 haploid cells(n).
@Xanthe, the "2 exact copies" has anything to do with cloning?
Im not so sure.I dont think so..
Actually Idk:(
its ok thx.
@fird96 I think you can say that too because in mitosis, the daughter cells carry the same genetic copy of one another:)But Imma gg clarify to my teacher tmr n get back to you soon:D
kk thx for your help, :D and sorry for being such a burden. :(
Trust me, youre not a burden we are all learning.N besides, I want to knw the ans cos I hv a similar test cmg up:D
k, thx again, n good luck on your test :D
Hey!Took me a long time but I finally asked my teacher.lol^^Here it is: "Mitosis is not cloning. Mitosis is used by body cell/ somatic cells for growth and tissue repair. Cloning is about making several copies of a gene which we desire to study or use for commercial purposes." Hope this helps!:D
