5. Solve the inequality. Show your work. 6y – 8 ≤ 10
@Notamathgenius @BacardiDavis
y≤ 3 ???????????
@WhoaBaby14
I have no idea. lol. im not that good at math lol.
me either lol
@deezgurls
omfg...I love inequality. give me one second
omfg!! YAY! ur my new best friend lol
okay so you start out with 6y – 8 ≤ 10 right?
right.
i'm gonna walk you through this
great lol
you have to try and isolate the 6y. so you'd do this. 6y – 8 ≤ 10 +8 +8 since the 8+8 cancels each other out, you are left with 6y ≤ 18 divide 18 by 6 and you get?
WOAH like how do they cancel out each other? (/./)
because -8 plus 8= 0. it's negative because it's 6y MINUS 8. When doing inequalities the subtraction symbol makes whatever that is to the right of it a negative. does that make sense?
yeah :P
my teacher taught me that really all your doing is putting an = sign where the ≤ . don't let it freak you out. it's simply just solving for Y. like you'd do if you had 2+x=4. you'd subtract 2 from 4 and get your answer.
ohhh psssh i get it! :0
see :) that simple. do you know how you would do it if it was a plus sign?
yes so like.. 6y – 8 ≤ 10 6y ≤ 10 +8 6y ≤ 18 y ≤ 18/6 y ≤ 3
if you have to show your work just show your work the same way I typed it out.
ahh ok :P welp thanks :)
when you're canceling the -8+8 draw a line through it, that shows you canceled it out
yep np c:
