A is false.  By definition, fungi are not capable of photosynthesis.

B is false.  From the description, it sounds like the trees are already dead.  

C is the best answer.  Most, but not all, fungi are saprophytic and get most of their nutrients from dead and decaying organic matter.

D is false.  There's nothing in the description that suggests this is happening.  Additionally, fungi and plants do not exchange genetic material with each other.
