the fattening hut. it's a little odd, but it is an interesting fictional account of growing up as a female in a culture that seems alien to others. it's one of my favorites, just from a "good story" point of view

Hmm. If you like fantasy, try anything by Tamora Pierce, Dianna Wynne Jones, or Patricia C. Wrede. They each have a couple of great series!
