Can someone give me something that can't be factored! Like it has to take the form a^2 + bx + c I just need an expression that isn't factorable using the who binomial FOIL thing, but is solvable using the quadratic equation! :P

OpenStudy (primeralph):

1,5,3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2 + 5x + 3 Can't be factored?

OpenStudy (primeralph):

right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would you mind sharing why it can't be factored? I would say because you can't have 5x added up and still be multiplied by 3? But that doesn't sound like it makes sense...

OpenStudy (primeralph):

because sqrt(5^2 -4(1*3)) is not a rational number.
