What is the recommended course of action when a user gives consistently wrong answers?
Good question what if you g et a wrong answer for this question 0.o
That's why I'm hoping for multiple responses. I've got a situation where another user consistently gives the wrong answer and then blows up at me for giving the correct one, especially when I have to correct them multiple times because they refuse to acknowledge their own mistake and continue posting incorrect information.
Well, than maybe you need to privately message the asker and tell them that the person who is answering their question(s) is incorrect. If the person continues to give out wrong answers tag a moderator, maybe they can help.
@Preetha May you please help, this is your specialty!
I tried that, but it was already well after they'd left that question. I'm not sure if the mod sent them a message about it or not.
Oh.
I'll ask again later when the group is more alive...
okay
Really the best course of action is to post your solution. Then you could pm the asker to alert them of the mistakes. But at the end of the day, the asker has to learn to be wary, to seek a second opinion and find a mod/higher ranked user to validate the answer. You did the right thing and thank you for bringing this to our attention.
They were higher-ranked, actually. That's one of the flaws with the ranking system: answers are not associated with correctness, and the people asking the questions usually would not be able to show why an answer is incorrect.
