Which two primers from the list below will allow you to use PCR to amplify this gene? My choices are the first 2. 1. 5'-GTGCA-3' 2. 5'-CACGT-3' 3. 5'-TATGG-3' 4.5'-CCATA-3' 5. 5'-ATACC-3' 6.5'-GGTAT-3'

OpenStudy (aaronq):

hmm nope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok. I look over what you attached and I am not grasping it. How will those help me to amplify the PCR?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

the primers need to be complementary to the 3' end because polymerase elongates in a 5' to 3' direction

OpenStudy (aaronq):

so when you said you chose the first 2, one was correct, one wasn't.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok so I think that the one that was right was 2. The one on the other side to compliment would have to be 6..GGTAT?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

2 is right, 6 is not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok. So the one I was able to find was 4 "CCATA" at the end of 3' to 5'. I think I am missing something that I am not getting.
