Precal question on modulus plz HeLP? 7. Compute the modulus and argument of each complex number. a. 1 + i b. 4 – 4i c. 2 + 5i d. 2[cos (2pi/3) + i sin (2pi/3)]

OpenStudy (amistre64):

can you define modulus and arguement in this context?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure thats how its asked on the paper

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, in order to determine the solutions; it would help would know what it is that they are actually asking for. the modulus is the distance the "point" is from the origin the argument is the angle that the "vector" makes with the postive x axis

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the modulus of: a+bi is simply sqrt(a^2+b^2) the arguement of a+bi is: arctan(b/a)
