If you write your roots as fractional exponents, and take everything under the radical and convert it to a base raised to an exponent, you are then able to multiply your powers and reduce your terms.

find factors of 72 which contain perfect square 72 = 36 * 2 so sqrt72 = sqrt36 * sqrt2 = 6 sqrt2 now deal with x^2 square root of this is x so first answer is 6x sqrt2
