OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is zero a solution of -2 < x < 5? yes no

OpenStudy (noelgreco):

Substitute 0 for x and see if the statement is true.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No I don't think so because -2 plus its inverse (2) is 0 but 5+2 is 7. Sooo no? Am I incorrect?

OpenStudy (noelgreco):

Read the inequality as, " x is greater than -2 and less that five." Then read it again with 0 instead of x, and ask yourself if thew last statement you made is true. You are over-thinking the question - you don't need inverses.
