Create or locate one example of figurative language used to describe the hero of your selected novel. Include the example, identify the figurative language by name (metaphor, simile, personification, hyperbole, symbolism, etc.), and explain its effect as it is used in the example. Dang that sucks! Sorry girl. Um well like a simile basically compares two unlike things using the word(s) like or as. So look for those words and make sure they are comparing two things. If so you have a simile. :) metaphor is the same but does NOT use the words like or as. Then personification is giving an object a human like quality that it can not actually have. An example of personification is the flower waved to the morning sun. Hope that helped a little!
