Human Anatomy

thomaster (thomaster):

They're called alveoli :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

darn u beat me @thomaster !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks! do you mind answering a few more? please :)

thomaster (thomaster):

sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll try. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think its A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here is a diagram of the ear. it may help confirm an answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So was @bobsr. right then :)

thomaster (thomaster):

That's correct the cochlea contains the organ of corti which contains the auditory sensory cells :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Fun fact: the cochelea also makes you dizzy when you spin around.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks! Woudl you mind a few more..I have the others down...but these are just hard.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure @thomaster lets do this!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks SO much you have no idea!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am good at anatomy but when you put in history it gets harder :P. Google here I come!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha I know what you mean :)

thomaster (thomaster):

hehe i know the answer :P thinking about a way to explain it

thomaster (thomaster):

well first this guy inoculated phipps with cowpox

thomaster (thomaster):

so B and C are canceled out

thomaster (thomaster):

So phipps got the cowpox , this means the second event is 3

thomaster (thomaster):

phipps recovered from the cowpox and gained immunity to smallpox. And Jenner tried to infect phipps with smallpox but he did not get the disease because he was immune to it.

thomaster (thomaster):

And in this way Jenner developed the idea of a vaccine, infect an organism with a dead/ milder variant of a disease to make them gain immunity

thomaster (thomaster):

By the way cowpox is a mild version of smallpox :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So which one is it sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wow @thomaster you are GOOD!

thomaster (thomaster):

And so the cowpox virus was the first succesful vaccination against smallpox. It's a fascinatins story and we owe this guy a lot for his observations.

thomaster (thomaster):

So the answer is 4312 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following are public health measures that have helped fight disease? A) promoting vaccinations B) monitoring water supplies C) regulating food supplies D) all answers

thomaster (thomaster):

@bobsr. hehe im very good at microbiology :D

thomaster (thomaster):

They all are measures to prevent/fight diseases. A-promoting vaccinations which prevents disease B-monitoring water supplies, a major way for pathogens to spread C-regulating food supplies (same reason as B) So i think D is the answer

thomaster (thomaster):

They're all auto-immune diseases, this means that the antibodies are attacking the body's own healthy cells. Now we only have to find out which case takes place around the joints

thomaster (thomaster):

\(\rightarrow~\)Lupus is an auto immune disease of the skin. so this won't be the answer \(\rightarrow~\)Myasthenia is caused by antibodies attacking the acetylcholine receptor on the neuromuscular junction. So not around the joints. \(\rightarrow~\)With diabetes these nasty antibodies attack the insulin producing cells (the islets of Langerhans) in the pancreas. also not joints. \(\rightarrow~\)only option left is rheumatoid arthritis. The antibodies attack the linings of the joint causing them to get stiff. \(\overline{\underline{\LARGE{\color{gold}{\star~}}\Large\tt\color{green}{I\;Hope\;this\;Helps!}\LARGE{\color{gold}{~\star}}}}\)

thomaster (thomaster):

which of these diseases do you think cause blood clumping? It's a very popular word and like every butter/oil products promote themselves as not containing or having low levels this compound

thomaster (thomaster):

That is correct thats cholesterol. But valvular stenosis is a disease which occurs when there is narrowing, thickening or blockage of valves in the heart. So that could be the answer too.

thomaster (thomaster):

Myeloma (kahler disease) is plasma cell cancer. I think it can also cause heart attacks

thomaster (thomaster):

So all answers are correct :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

awesome!

thomaster (thomaster):

Yes this are cardiac muscles

thomaster (thomaster):

uhh the stomach has contractions, this is the mechanical digestion. The contractions crushes and breaks the food, increasing the surface area of the food. When the surface area of the food is increased, the enzymes can break down food faster. This is the chemical digestion. In the stomach pepsinogen is converted to pepsin, an enzyme that breaks down proteins.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks only one more and it's matching

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got it Thanks!

thomaster (thomaster):
