Well i m not pretty sure but, does phagocytosis means cell eating?
Phago - to eat or devour Cytos - cell osis - the process of So yes, phagocytosis means cell eating. Phagocytosis occurs when a cell extends its cell membrane around something in its environment to consume it. You're correct that cells can eat other cells by phagocytosis. For example, white blood cells of the human immune system can engulf invading bacteria by phagocytosis.

Well.....Actually, Endocytosis which is basically the cells process of eating, have two types: Pinocytosis and Phagocytosis. In this process the whole Pinocytosis Means "cell drinking" Process of eating with liquids. There are certain styles of pinocytosis. Almost all cells perform some form of pinocytosis. Doesn't have to hunt down prey like phagocytosis. It takes drops of fluid from outside the cell and all cells need to do that. Phagocytosis Means "cell eating" Process of eating solids. A cell taking in a large object and it will eventually digest. An example would be an amoeba eating a bacterium. The cell senses the bacterium because of chemicals in the environment. The cell moves towards the prey. Once contact is made, the amoeba slowly wraps its cell membrane around the object. ref: http://student.ccbcmd.edu/~gkaiser/biotutorials/eustruct/pinocyt.html
