Help? Write an inequality for its exterior.

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

write the equation of this elipse first..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(y^2/169) +x^2/25) = 1 \]

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

true.. now whenever y^2/169 + x^2/25 > 1 .. the point is x,y is outside the elipse. so your inequality would be y^2/169 + x^2/25 > 1.. also worth nothing.. y^2/169 + x^2/25 < 1 .. when the ineq is this, the point lies inside the elipse.. this is true for any curve.. for a circle, hyperbola, elipse..

Oh okay. Thanks!

You're welcome. :)
