Write an equation for the line that is parallel to the given line that passes through the given point. y = 5x + 10; (2, 14)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For two lines to be parallel, their slopes must be equal. So in the ecuation y=5x+10, the slope is 5 Now we want the ecuation of the line with slope 5 and that passes through the point (2,14) We can use the slope point form of the ecuation of a line, wich is: y-y1=m(x-x1) Where m is the slope and the line passes through the point (x1,y1)
