Why did South Vietnam experience a sharp economic decline after the American withdrawal?


American soldiers were no longer in South Vietnam spending money.
Rice exports had decreased while government spending had gone up.
There was a surplus of goods with no one to sell them to.
North Vietnam would not accept South Vietnamese goods for sale.

This decline was primarily due to the Congressional cuts in aid to the South Vietnamese government : $1 billion a year to $700 million .
