Which expression has a simplified expression of 5x - 12? 3(4x- 4) - 7x -3(4x- 4) - 7x 3(-4x+ 4) - 7x -3(-4x- 4) - 7x

Alrighty then. Do you know how to do this one? It's exactly like the other ones.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sort of.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright. They all have to do with distributing. You distribute the three to what's in the brackets. like so, then afterwards you simplify and add and subtract what matches together. \[1.) 12x-12-7x = 5x-12\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the first one is alright.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The second one you distribute -3 to whats in the brackets. so you end up with \[-12x +12 - 7x, if you simplify that, you \end up with -19x+12\] So that's not it! :)

did you find the right answer to this problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ughhh....NO it the 1st one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Shhhhhhhhhhhh. Yeah it's the second one, I thought it was the one that wasn't it. xD Oops,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hahaha its all good..its all about looking carefully at the signs/operators used
