well, you might want to look this up for yourself. the cool things about glycolysis is that it produces a net increase of 2 ATP molecules for each glucose consumed. the other important metabolites (per glucose molecule) are the 2 pyruvates and (2?) NADH.

oxygen is needed as the electron sink in the process linked to the "electron transfer chain". it's related to the answers you are looking for.
