NAFTA stands for North American Free Trade Agreement. It's a treaty between Canada, Mexico and the U.S. This has been in effect since January of 1994.

Okay this treaty was designed to increase trade among these 3 nations by reducing or eliminating restrictions on commerce (trading, business) such as tariffs (tax put on an imported good) and import quotas (certain amount of something that needs to be met by a certain time)
