So, you're looking for x? 2/5 x + 2 = -3/5 x - 8 You just simply transpose 2 to the right and -3/5x to the left side of the equation. so you'll get: 2/5 x + 3/5x =-8 -2 Take note of the changing of signs. Whenever you transpose, you change the sign. Simplify the equation and you'll get x = -10.
