Why replication of human chromosomes would take a long time to replicate at a single site ? please help!!

OpenStudy (aaronq):

because DNA strands are very long lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks man i'll do some more reading the question is worth 6 marks.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

essentially they're really long, you should include details such as how long they are (in base pairs) and how fast polymerase copies them (also in base pairs).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

due to acetylation, and methylation of histones on DNA, and transcription factors can inhibit transcription in the first place. length has nothing to do with DNA replication time

OpenStudy (aaronq):

the question was about replication not transcription.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

acetylation enhances transcription by relaxing the chromatin btw.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Someone knows their biochemistry :3
