The diagram below represents a rectangular garden with walkways along the diagonals. A fountain is located at point F, which is the center of the park. Marie enters the park through the west gate and walks (3x – 1) yards to reach the fountain. Jennifer enters the park through the east gate and walks (4x – 8) yards to reach the same spot. What is the approximate distance Jennifer walks to reach the fountain from the east gate of the park?

The diagonals of the rectangle should be equivalent, therefore: 3x -1 = 4x -8 --> 7 = x Now plug x into the distance from the east end to the fountain: Distance = 4(7) -8 = 20 yards So C.) is your answer
