The Soviet Union used pretty much one tactic: isolationism. The Europeans nor America had much imfo on the Soviets. The imaginary border between Eastern European countries and the Soviets were called the "Iron Curtain" (Winston Churchill). George Kennan was a US diplomat and contributed heavily to the ideas of communism. He stated that communism must be "contained" and be met with force. Basically, the SU shut itself out from the world.

LOL. well Reagan and Gorbachev became friendly. Gorbachev opened up the Soviets to the western world, and had friendly relations with Reagan. Working coopertively, the Berlin Wall came down, and the US sold huge amounts of grain to the Soviets. ("The great grain deal").

Yes. They had their differences, such as the START treaty initiated by Reagan. The Soviets couldn't keep up and Gorbachev started to open up the Soviets
