the female flappers of the 1920 engaged in smoking, and questioning authority. The second movement eventually led to the 19th amendment; the right to vote for women.

Erm because a lot of women were allowed to work during WW2 so more war products can be produced. And all the women got the "manly" jobs. So after WW2 ended, women believed that they are also capable of doing things other than household stuffs and that they should be equal to the men.
