Factor: a2 – a – 20

(a+4)(a-5)

Will you show your steps?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need to find 2 numbers that will add up to -1 and multiply to give you -20. The factors of 20 are: 1, 20; 2, 10; and 4, 5. Playing around with the numbers (making one OR both of the numbers negative) you will see that 4 and 5 are your only option. 4 x -5 = -20 AND 4 + -5 = -1. That's the best way I can explain Hope this helps.
