What factors help to explain why the united states and the soviet union became rivals instead of allies?

The United States and the Soviet Union because reivals because their views of how a country could be run were totally different. Think about the Soviet union and us, what differences are there politically?

Yeap. The Soviet Union believed in Communism and US believed in Capitalism. When Roosevelt died, Truman took over and Truman was even more anti-communist. So during the Potsdam conference, there were a lot of suspicion between Stalin and Truman. Both sides disagreed about what to do with Germany too. Since so many Russians died from WW2, Stalin wanted to cripple Germany but Truman didnt want to make the same mistake of the Treaty of Versailles. Also, Truman informed Stalin about the atomic bomb success as a warning so that kinda started conflicts...
