erm all i know was that us and cuba were very good allies before the cuban missile crisis (1962). US even had a naval base in Cuba and sold sugar in to Cubans. But one day, Cuba suddenly told US to move out of Cuba but they can keep their base there. After that, americans spies told the us government the soviet union had been supporting Cuba. Soon, Cuba was well armed with artillery brought in by Soviet Union. And after, US found out that Soviet Union is building missile bases in cuba and U2s were sent to fly over Cuba and the bases were progressing quickly. They flew over the see and found USSR ships with nuclear missiles in it that were about to be sent to be Cuba. This frighten the US because it would be easy to wipe out US with the missiles from Cuba. So they thought of ways to prevent the missiles to arrive in Cuba without fighting. During the time, Stalin and the US prez kept writing letters to each other. However, USSR didnt state anything about the nuclear weapon and when they finally did, they request US to take away the base which was in Berlin. A few days later, another letter arrive demanding US to remove it in return of them retreating the ships. On the very same day, a U2 plane was shot down. in the end the missiles were in Cuba but they were under United Nation's surveillance .
