find the volume of the square pyramid shown. Round to the nearest tenth if necessary.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (raden):

use the formula : Volume = 1/3 * base area * height

OpenStudy (raden):

so, V = 1/3 * 12 * 12 * 16 = ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

768?

OpenStudy (raden):

yup, correct ^^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got this one and i did the same thing you said but i didnt get the right answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

OpenStudy (raden):

you have to find the height that pyramid, first |dw:1369175370538:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would i do a2+b2=c2?

OpenStudy (raden):

yup, that's right use the pythagorean theorem : h^2 = 13^2 - 5^2 h^2 = 169 - 25 h^2 = 144 h = sqrt(144) = 12

OpenStudy (raden):

now, the volume of that pyramid : V = 1/3 * 10 * 10 * 12 = ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i got 400

OpenStudy (raden):

correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thannk you once again im gonna post another one

OpenStudy (raden):

welcome
