You should not use vinegar. This reaction is used in vulcano models, It will explode/expand. For this experiment you should use hydrochloric acid, since stomach acid "is" hydrochloric acid. The HCl concentration in the stomach is about 0.5% which is about 0.14M. The reaction will be \(NaHCO_3 + HCl \rightarrow NaCl + H_2CO_3\) You see NaCl (table salt) is produced in this reaction. You can come up with an experiment where you take 2 tubes. Add some 0.1M HCl and add bicarbonate to 1 of the tubes. Then measure the conductivity of the solutions in the 2 tubes. Salt increases the conductivity of a solution so the solution where you added bicarbonate should have a higher conductivity. \(\overline{\underline{\LARGE{\color{gold}{\star~}}\Large\tt\color{green}{I\;Hope\;this\;Helps!}\LARGE{\color{gold}{~\star}}}}\)
