What development in 1955 marked the beginning of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s career as a civil rights leader?

Well, in 1955, I believe Rosa Parks started the boycott movement thing... Where they boycotted the bus, because of racial/ethnic opposition. They wanted her to move to the back of the bus because she was black, just so a white person could take the better seat. And Martin Luther King Jr. was chosen to lead this movement and thus his career as a civil rights leader began... at least I think that's it... if i'm remembering this correctly haha :P @Captain_Page_Turner did i get this right? I don't wanna help this person wrongly lol :P
