I'm stuck; X^2 - 4X -12=0 ?

OpenStudy (zpupster):

x^2 = (x )(x ) we know the last term is negative so multiplying + and - will give us a negative so (x - )(x + ) we need multiples of 12 the last term we get 1,2,3,4,6,12 we have to see the combination of these multiples that will give us -4x how about -6 + 2 = -4 and then we have (x - 6)(x+2) practice these a lot !!!!
