In our kidneys, we have little tubes that filter our body fluids. The tiny tubes are called "nephrons."

It is possible for us to live, and be healthy, with just one kidney.

If we lose a kidney,
the nephrons in our other kidney will grow, and become larger,
so that our remaining kidney can make up for the one that we lost.
