The endpoints of a line segment graphed on a Cartesian coordinate system are (-3, 5) and (2, -1). What are the coordinates of the midpoint of the segment? A. (-2.5, 2) B. (-2, 2.5) C. (-6, -5) D. (-0.5, 2) E. (-1, 4) F. (-2, 3.5)

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

You can find the midpoint of a line segment by taking the average of the x values of the endpoints and the average of the y values of the endpoints. Those two numbers will be the coordinates of the midpoint. If you think about it graphically, the x value is going to be halfway between the two x values and the y value will be halfway between the two y values |dw:1369341305122:dw|
