How do I work out the equations of these lines? (I know some of them may be obvious but I need a method for none obvious ones)
Please note the white part is the area we want, the shaded part is the area we don't want
So we are only finding the equations right?
yes, such as y> or equal to x is the obvious one, but I need a method to work them out
Yeah another is y is < or equal to x. And another is x=1
no they are not. the equations are y> or equal to x x+y < or equal to 8 x> or equal to 1 but I can not work them out
@satellite73 please help me? I am desperate on time, my exam is in 7 hours and I have not slept yet :(
all I see is picture, don't know what you want really?
I want to work out the equations of the lines from the graph
I need a method, as I can't work them out. I got the answers of the mark scheme
so straight verticle line on thee right side is x=1
yes, and I know y=x, but I don't know how I would work out the other one
the other diagonal is x+y=8
yes you can state that it is, but that doesn't help me
I don't know how you got x+y=8
x+y=8 set x=0 up there , what do you get 0+y=8 y=8 set y=0 up there, what do you get
but how do you know it is x+y=8 there must be some method to work that equation out.
so I got two coordinate (0,8) (8,0) using, y-y1=m(x-x1) (8)=m(-8) m=-1 hence pluging into y=mx+b b is y value when x=0 y=-1x+8 y+x=8
thank you very much! :D<3
