Which of the following points lie in the solution set to the following system of inequalities? y < -3x + 3 y < x + 2 A.(1, 5) B.(-1, 5) C.(5, 1) D.(1, -5)

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

You just plug in the points you have choices of coordinates (x,y) you plug the into the equations for x and y...and see if it works out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right. thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would i be able to tell?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

so we'll take for example...the first answer choice (1,5) this is (x,y) you have 2 equations y < -3x + 3 y < x + 2 plug them in 5 < -3(1) + 3 5 < (1) + 2 so 5 < 0 5 < 3 is 5 less than 0? AND is 5 less than 3? No in both cases...so this is NO a solution

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):
